Small Print

Once your order has been confirmed, whether it be a commission or a purchase from the shop,  you are entering into a contract with Elizabeth Ackerley  and agree to be bound by the the following terms and conditions. The terms and conditions for sewing lessons and workshops are towards the bottom of this page.

Placing an Order and Payment:


For Bespoke products please contact me with your enquiry. I aim to reply within 24hrs (weekdays), with any answers, a quote for the work and also how long your commission will take. Please allow up to 3 weeks from receipt of payment to delivery for bespoke work.  The Gingerbread Family Trees may take up to 6 weeks.  The website will be updated should the lead times be increased.  This will not affect any orders that have already been placed. Once you have decided to go ahead with a commission, you will receive a Paypal invoice, which you can pay either with a Paypal account or with your debit/credit card via Paypal.  All your payment details are secure.  For Bespoke items I also accept BACS and cheques.  Full payment confirms your order.  


To make a purchase from any of the Shop categories, please use the order form on each page and continue to the checkout.  Payment can be made by Paypal.  You can also use your credit or debit card on the secure Paypal site.

Ready-made, non-personalised products will be posted within 3-5 working days of receipt of payment. If it is likely to be any longer than this you will be notified and given the option to cancel your order.  Please allow up to 3 weeks for personalised items, from receipt of payment to delivery.  The website will be updated should the lead times be increased.  This will not affect any orders that have already been placed.  Should you require something sooner than 3 weeks then please ask if earlier delivery is possible.  
Once a personalised or bespoke order has been confirmed it cannot be cancelled and refunded, because of the nature of the item.  There is no VAT charged on any of my products.

Returns & Cancellations:

Orders for personalised and bespoke items cannot be cancelled once the order has been placed and paid for, as they cannot be resold. Personalised and bespoke items cannot be returned, as they cannot be resold. If I have made a mistake in your commission then you will be given the option of a full refund or to have the error corrected.  Should you receive the item and realise that you have made a mistake then I will do my best to correct it, for a small charge.  Progress and finished product photos are emailed to the customer before the items are posted out, which give the opportunity to spot any errors.

I am sure you will love what you buy, but should you change your mind then you can return any non-personalised or non-bespoke items for a full refund.   Please contact me  within in 14 days of receiving your order, before returning anything. You will be emailed a cancellation form. The item must be in new condition, with tags attached, in the original packaging and returned within 14 days of the cancellation being confirmed.  A full refund of the item will be issued within 14 days of the item being returned to me.  The customer is responsible for paying for any items to be returned, unless the item is faulty.

Privacy Policy:

The privacy of all my customers is respected and your details will never be passed on to a third party.  The information you provide me with will only be stored for the purposes of completing your commission and administration.


All the designs, artwork, original work and images of my work are protected by copyright and are the property of Elizabeth Ackerley. All of the above applies to work I created under The Little Pennant Company label.  Please do not copy or use any of my images in any format without obtaining my permission first. 


  • Every care has been taken to show the colours  and details of my work as accurately as possible.  Computer monitors do vary and some shades may appear different depending on the device you are viewing it on.  Please contact me if you are concerned about an exact colour match.

  • All of my work is decorative and not intended for use as a toy. 

  • As much as I love a challenge I do reserve the right to turn down a commission or suggest a similar alternative.  I have my own style of work and I will endeavour to incorporate your ideas into this style.

  • At extremely busy times a waiting list will be set-up.  You will be notified of this when you enquire about your order and the website will be updated accordingly.

  • I reserve the right to alter the website at any time.  This may include product details, prices and the terms and conditions.  This will not affect any orders that you have already placed with me.

  • Every effort is made to keep the website up and running smoothly. However, I take no responsibility for, and will not be liable for, the website being temporarily unavailable due to technical issues beyond my control.

  • If you have any questions regarding any of the above then please contact me .

 Sewing Lessons - Terms & Conditions


  • Classes and workshops must be paid for in full before the class or workshop begins and will confirm your place.  Cash, cheque and bank transfers are accepted - thank you.

  • If you are unable to come to one of the classes then, unfortunately, you will not be refunded as it won’t be possible to fill your place. Classes take place over a series of weeks, so arent suitable for someone to come along for just one of those classes.  If you do miss a class and there is space in another similar class then it might be possible for you to do a  catch-up lesson.

  • If you are unable to attend a one-off workshop and someone can be found to take your place then you will receive a full refund, once the replacement’s payment has been received. You may have a friend who can take your place or I might have someone waiting on a reserve list.

  • If you are unable to attend a lesson at the last minute then please let me know by text or calling me on my mobile, rather than email (I don’t always have internet access).

  • If I have to cancel a class then you will be offered an alternative date for your class or a refund for that particular class or workshop.

  • If you are bringing your own sewing machine, please ensure that it is in good working order and that home insurance covers it for use away from home.  Neither myself nor The Craft Room - Tarporley will be held responsible for any damage caused to your sewing machine or other sewing equipment that you bring with you. Please let me know when booking if you would like to borrow one of my sewing machines.

  • Sewing Classes and workshops  for adults do not include materials unless otherwise stated.  There will be sewing thread and small pieces of fabric available for you to practice with and use for small projects, but most people prefer to choose their own fabrics.

  • On your booking form you will be asked if photos, taken during classes and workshops, of yourself/your child can be used on Elizabeth Ackerley’s website and social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter.  Most photos will be of the actual projects or just your hands working away, but sometimes it’s nice to show who is behind the creativity.

  • Your details will never be passed on to anyone else and will be kept  purely for administrative purposes.  You will occasionally receive emails about future sewing classes, workshops and special offers. As Elizabeth co-runs The Craft Room - Tarporley, which will be the main venue for the sewing classes you will occasionally receive emails with details of our other art and craft course and workshops. (sometimes my classes and the craft room class emails will be combined). There is an option to opt out of receiving these emails on the booking form.

Your booking form will include a copy of all the Sewing Lesson terms and conditions and all my contact details.
